Absolutely Sheridan, the way i was looking at it, in the brief discussion last night, was that i would pick my shots for the story with a 2D view in mind but adapt some of those shots to be enhanced by 3D but they would still look great in 2D. I guess what I'm trying to say is that i don't want it to be gimmicky, more that i can use it to have some fun without shot after shot of axes being thrown at the camera  And sometimes going to the darkside aint that bad, is it?  I'll keep you guys posted on it. |

They all shoot Full HD footage but its the way they export/compress it that you have to watch for, if you shoot RED then it chucks it out in its own file type and you have to get the software to convert it to work in FC BUT its 4x the size of 1080 HD so can be used for cinema. The 7D uses H264 which is OK if you plan on just making it DVD quality but crap if you want/hope/pray for a cinema release. You can get around this though by bypassing the SD card and running a direct feed into a portable hard drive, which is fine if you have the rig to support it and aren't doing too many HandHeld shots. The Panasonic is between the two and is x2 or x3 1080 so you can use it for cinema but only if you keep the resolution up and don't crop into any of your footage. There is more to it than that but thats the basics my DoP has been telling me Then of course there's capturing the sound Today is the first time I've seen this thread. I think your shots look superb! The image looks great. I like Panasonic's products, and I love the 7D. I plan on shooting some shorts soon. I almost bought a 7D but ended up going with a Panasonic HVX200. The HVX200 uses the P2 card format, are you familiar with those? |

Sheridan, thank you so much, i got your feedback and will reply and dalmatianjaws, i sent the script today pal so let me know if you got it ok.
On a side note, i have lined up a days weapon training for two of my actors so they can get into the meat of their roles and actually look like they're in the army, so a day of rifle and pistol familiarisation including firing (air soft) , tactics and strip down and re-assemble on Sunday 11th Sept. Pics will follow.
