Neil Marshall has followed on from the (highly disappointing to me anyway) “Dog Soldiers”, which was only memorable for the unintentionally comical tough guy soldier played by Sean Pertwee, who managed to make the word “sausages” take on a whole new meaning, and the slightly less disappointing “The Descent” with the upcoming apocalyptic science fiction-action movie.

General opinion seems to be split over this, with previous reports on varying websites stating that it was one of the worse of a supposedly terrible wave of upcoming ’08 films that we can expect to suffer over the next twelve months, to the other extreme that it’s the best thing since sliced bread.
What do I think? There’s no doubt in my mind that Marshall has the untapped talent and potential to take something as stale and aged as the premise of this film and give it a good shake up, dust down and buff it up to make it nice and shiny. Parts of his previous films have proved this, but one or two worthwhile scenes are not going to save ninety minutes to two hours of run time being filled in with recycled garbage. Here’s hoping I’m proved wrong…
