Remember when they announced Soderbergh was directing a thriller about a super contagious virus and you thought "well that's cool, I wonder how he'll make it stand out from Outbreak and Andromeda Strain and other, dull, run-of-the-mill end-of-the-world-due-to-a-virus movies that aren't 28 Days Later?"

Answer: he didn't.

You wouldn't know this was directed by Soderbergh unless you'd already been following the film (a film nerd like me) but for the rest of the populace? Probably not. I'm sure the cast will elevate this thing to a level above it's generic B-movie roots, but will it be enough?

I think it looks pretty cool, I'm a big fan of end of the world stuff and this has got a great director and cast. What the hell kind of accent is Jude Law trying to do though?

Soderbergh is a bit of a chameleon really; he switches his style with every film he makes it seems like. The sad thing is I doubt the average movie-goer would even recognise his name.

I agree it does look terribly generic but that cast, seriously good actors in there but I'm not sure it's going to be enough to raise it high enough.
Also, and i could've missed something but it didn't look like there were any visible symptoms, which means if you can't see it then, in my book anyway, you can't fear it. Its why 28 Days Later worked so brilliantly, because you could see the transformation of the infected and thats what you and the characters feared, just dropping ill aint that scary.
