Heyo, so unless the PR gods smite us down again, I will be interviewing the screenwriter (Marti Noxon) and director (Craig Gillespie) of Fright Night (2011) this Sunday.
I've started a list of questions. Please post more below. I only have ten minutes with each person so best to keep them focused on Fright Night, though if there's time I'd love to ask about some of their other projects, etc.
Marti Noxon (screenwriter)
Did you pursue Fright Night or was it brought to you?
You’ve worked a lot on pre-established material (Buffy, Mad Men, I Am Number Four, and now Fright Night), can you describe your process of finding your own voice in someone else’s work?
For Fright Night did you strip the story down to the premise and start new or build upon the previous screenplay?
How much studio involvement was there and did those notes drastically change the story you wanted to tell?
What’s it like switching between TV and film? How does that affect your writing?
How much does budget affect your imagination as you write?
What next for you? Any plans for a Marti Noxon original?
Craig Gillespie (director)
Lars and the Real Girl is such a different sort of film than Fright Night, how do the experiences compare and how did one prepare you for the other?
You’ve worked on indie films and Super Bowl commercials, how much does budget restrict (or expand) your ideas in terms of storyboards?
How much of the action was scripted and how much was figured out with the stunt team? How much was figured out “on the day” on set?
Are you involved in the script? Do you prefer the writer be on set with you?
What intrigues you about Fright Night and how does it fit in with the current pop culture vampire trend?

Craig Gillespie (director)
What did you feel needed to be altered to bring Fright Night up to date?
It's a terrific cast. How did that come together? Who was the most straight-forward to get on board, and who took the most persuading?
What was the thinking with not having David Tennant in the first trailer?
The original movie spawned a sequel. If that happens here would you like to be involved, and will you include the vampires on roller skates?
What's up for you next? What's the status on Pride And Prejudice And Zombies?

Honestly I think you'll probably have time to ask all of them. Can't help thinking quite a few more questions are required. Depends how much they elaborate. Order doesn't matter really except future projects comes last.

I put out an e-mail to everyone involved with the site asking to suggest further questions here. It was universally ignored.

Marti Noxon
Here's a few I thought up focussing mainly on gender.
Have there been any times in which you have felt discriminated againsts because of your gender in this male-dominated industry?
What advice would you give to young female writers who are trying to get a break in TV and Film?
Buffy was a show that was commended for having a strong, smart female lead. Do you think there is a lack of such characters in current television and film?
Mad Men has frequently been accused of being mysoginistic. Do you think such criticisms are fair/accurate?
Also for both of them ask about their writing/directing inspiration and influences. That's always interesting.

We've seen vampires depicted in TV and film a lot recently. What do you think it is about them that appeals to people so much?

The original 'Fright Night' has something of a cult following. How will Fright Night 2011 appeal to the die-hard fans of the original?
