The original
Fright Night is considered an '80s "classic" by some and apparently Hollywood is hoping the twelve people that remember it will buy a thousand tickets each for the remake, which hits theaters this summer.
Here is our first look:
While the original had some fine moments and cool special effects, overall it was a bit of a mess, albeit a fun mess. Missing from this trailer is David Tennant, a popular British actor who rocked the small screen as Dr. Who but is still relatively unknown in the States. He will be reprising the role of David Vincent, who was played by Roddy McDowell in the original. It was that character's late night TV show, 'Fright Night" from which the movie took its name, and it was McDowell's sadly desperate and perfectly timed comedic presence which made the original special.
This current trailer looks pretty good, though the tone seems too serious for such a fun idea and they seem to have added large action sequences which are never as scary as smaller, more confined scare moments.
Still, it looks like the cast is top notch. What are your thoughts?
