Feast your eyes on the costume of the father of the Man of Steel!

Dude has a robe AND a cape. A robe. And. A cape. I can't decide if that's ridiculous or ridiculously awesome. Either way, there it is. Jor-El is one of those characters whose visual interpretation is considerably less subject to scrutiny than that of Superman's. He's had numerous outfits in the comics, so nothing he wears could be quite as upsetting to hardcore nerds as the
scaly, rubbery, long caped, trunkless thing Henry Cavill's wearing.
Jor-El is sporting a similarly subdued colour palette to his son though, which may say something about the tone we can expect from the film. And we can expect a serious departure from the portrayal of Kryptonian culture established by the Richard Donner movies. Where Marlon Brando's glowing white outfit mirrored the sterile, monochromatic world he called home, Crowe's ornate ensemble would belong in a very different setting.
The question remains, though - what are they doing with ZOD??? The film's villain is seemingly the only main character to have a fully CG suit. How much more outlandish than what Jor-El is wearing could it possibly be?
