Despite his publicly stating a lack of desire to return to the world of Transformers, Michael Bay is apparently in negotiations to make two more sequels back to back. And it's all change on Cybertron, with the rumour mill currently suggesting that Shia LaBeouf is not set to return for future Transformers sequels, and that the lead may well be Jason Statham. Naturally, if Statham were to take the lead, this would almost completely change the dynamics of the franchise, which has focused on the maturation of Sam Witwicky, from high schooler getting his first car, to college student, to lowly corporate employee. Of course, if Michael Bay is to return, there will still be the familiar mix of crazy explosions, sweating, shouting, loud shouting, sweating, louder shouting and crazy explosions. There have been actors in the Transformers franchise thus far who seem more in the Statham mould than Shia LaBeouf, like Tyrese and company, but they have been on the fringes of the story.
With Statham's predeliction for choosing high octane projects and Michael Bay's...Michael Bayness, the pairing seems like a match made in heaven, although the collaboration being Transformers does seem a little odd. What do you think? Which franchise are you more eager to see Stathamized, Transformers or
The Fast and the Furious?
