Trailers chock full of spoilers - why!?

trailers are supposed to sell movies - so naturally they have a few of the best moments of the movie comprised into 2 minutes, along with the basic storyline

but recently it seems trailers are showing way too much. take this 'untraceable' trailer for example. i'm glad i have NO intention of seeing this movie, cause the trailer gives away so much! people who've seen alien vs predator requiem complain about the trailer spoiling all the fun action moments.

i'm pretty sure that people who'd want to see 'untraceable' also would've wanted to see it if they hadn't known in advance about the camera aimed at the main character's house, or her car computer being hacked (hahaha, by the way), so why do studios suddenly seem intent on spoiling all the fun?

Cloverfield. A trailer that doesn’t show us anything. That’s so unusual these days it becomes newsworthy and it’s turned it into one of the most hyped projects of the year. Back not so long ago, trailers were normally made this way. Check out the one for Jurassic Park -
