In all likelihood this is the final trailer for The Dark Knight Rises. I certainly didn't expect to see another promo this lengthy, I thought we were firmly in 30 second TV Spot territory. Did they save the best trailer til last? Take a look:

"...Mr Wayne!"

Emphasis is definitely on the action here, more so than first two trailers, which built up fairly slowly and really sold a surprisingly lethargic and melancholy tone for a summer blockbuster. Before getting to the explosions and brawls that is. The second trailer is still my personal  favorite, I think, but this one sure is exciting. Great preview of the score too.

The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman, and will be making record amounts of money on July 20th.

Just watched the making of. They talk for a minute or two about each character, but when they get to JGL in the middle, they completely (and highly suspiciously) gloss over him, basically just say "Yeah, he's a cop". Something is UP. Can't wait to find out what his expanded role is.

It's possible he's changed his name and is either Dick Grayson or a Falcone. Just seems like a bit much with "Miranda Tate".

I'd guess that he's a kinda-Robin or a version of Azrael. There are already so many villains in this. The best would be if he was the Joker somehow but I can't see how on earth that would make sense story wise, he's not scarred just for starters.

If he's revealed as The Joker I'd jizz my pants so hard I'd burst through the ceiling.

Not hyperbole.

No guys. That would not be the best. It doesn't make sense with the timeline and seeing who the Joker is before he is the Joker undermines the character entirely. It would be awful.

If John Blake has a secret identity, Dick Grayson is the only one that really makes sense and is consistent with what we know about the character: he's orphaned, he's a cop, he goes by John (Dick Grayson's middle name), the chalk bat in the trailers could almost be Nightwing's symbol, Christopher Judge referred to JGL and Bale as the two leads in this podcast (a dynamic duo?), and then there's this.

Also, this kid was rumored to be young Bane, but he looks more like JGL than Hardy to me:

Bruce Wayne's privilege is called into question in the trailers for TDKR, and in TDK there was the infamous 'I'm not wearing hockey pads' scene, which along with this:

Sets up the idea of him bankrolling a blue-collar crimefighter. If anything else fits nearly that well, I'd love to hear it. I don't expect him to don  costume at all though.

Yeah The Joker wouldn't make any sense, it was the second half of the sentence. But I'm talking about the truly jaw-dropping reveal. When was the last time that was in a movie? Maybe Unbreakable? Long time. I wish it would be something that grand, but it won't be. I mean, we know what two of the reveals are and they're decent, but not crap-oneself-and-fall-over level.

I agree that a playing-it-safe version of Robin is most likely.

Wait, I've got a new ending - Schwarzenegger enters as Freeze. "I told you I'd be back. ...But I never said you'd like it." -end-

Also just watched a TV spot that gave away a major thing that happens to JGL.

Anyone want to know?

The "you missed a spot" scene? How is that major?

Well, no, not that. I can spoil if you want, just say the word. It is major.

Gonna have to say a definite no then. It's in that same TV spot though? I don't see how major it could have been if I missed it...

Ah, okay. Share the spot then. I only don't want to know if it supports stuff you heard from your contact that's seen it or whatever. I don't mind speculating, an if it's in a promo I don't imagine it can be so bad, but I don't want to know the secret, I'm not really looking, I want to fooled.

Not talking backstory, I'm taking Joker undercover. Then at the end of the movie, all is well, and Gordon-Levitt does the cackle ... then a musical number to send off the franchise.

I'd seen the Legacy trailer already, not seeing anything I consider a major giveaway, but my curiosity has got the better of me, so out with it.

That's John Blake closing his eyes, putting his hands up and being pushed down a deadly drop. Either death or serious injury from that one.

That's been in other trailers. I don't know that they're directly connected. Part where he puts up his hands is probably just before a rescue, the push is during the dight scene where he put Christopher Judge in the hospital.

Pause it at 1:43 and look to the upper left.

Also, who is Dick Greyson?

I wonder if the set-up is for Levitt's character to take up Batman's mantle when/if he dies.  Is that what the cartoon Batman Beyond was?
