Well its been awhile since i been here and returning to MovieMoron is a great feeling. after almost a 2 year hiatus, i written and am currently directing my very own horror film which i will make available to all to see sometime in the next month or two. other than doing the film, i am also looking forward to attending college in the fall to study communications/Media Produciton ( Finding the college is a pain in the ass, and i STILL havent found one! ) but in addition, im back to lend a helping hand to MM and help contribute to as much as i can possible.

Thanks,
Eric Villarreal

Hey Eric. Great to hear from you. Has it been 2 years, wow. Time flies on this site.

What's your horror film about? What's the running time? Yeah we'd love to see some or all of it, maybe give some feedback (if it helps).

What's making the college hunt tricky?

It revolves around 3 Friends (two guys one girl senario) who have been close ever since junior high or so and one friend is deeply in love with the girl of their clan however its a love that turns into an obsession. something deep and very creepy is what im aiming for basically.

Run Time im looking at possibly an hour or a little over that. i would love everyones and anyones feedback, dont really get much of that here in Texas so i would greatly appreciate it.

Finding a college that fits me is whats hard, i have no problem attending the local technical college but i feel there is something more for me out there. i want to do film and thats whats been on my mind ever since my freshman year of high school. i looked into art institutes but quickly backed away after seeing tuition costs haha.

Dalmatian Jaws can tell you all about deep and creepy obsessive love.

Post up whatever you have from the film when you have it and we'll take a look.

I haven't got much of a clue about film schools in the States, but on the side, any runners work you can get on professional sets is a great way to make contacts and get a realistic sense of what it's like as a job. I get the feeling Austin is quite lively for that kind of thing.

Again thank you Sheridan for your support. i will post something by saturday if possible on Youtube, im still working out the kinks on editing and finding original music somewhere so i wont get into any trouble.

As far as a runners job, Austin is a great place for that actually. I have an aunt there who is a documentary filmmaker along with my uncle who are somewhat showing me the basics on filmmaking and how to do it professionally as far as dealing with getting written consent to film on certain locations and such.

Did you get those flowers I sent you?

LivingHell: if you have access to sets and folks that will teach you the basics, and you're getting out there and actually applying that knowledge to things you're actually shooting, FORGET FILM SCHOOL. At least for now. It's only worth it to go to a GREAT one for the contacts afterwards. In the meantime, get a degree in something else so you have OTHER knowledge to bring to your art (history, biology, something like that), travel to other countries if possible, and gain worldly knowledge. Let your "on the ground" experience serve as film school for now. And, above all, READ as much as possible, both fiction and books about story and filmmaking.  Austin is a great place for indie cinema, make use of it!

That's my wise counsel that you did not ask for. Enjoy.

oh by the way that new furniture looks great from the front yard!

Dalmatian Jaws: thank you good sir. i dont need film school to teach me something i already know(well at least the basics). i am applying to a college today about 30 miles from where i live and i think it will be worth learning more about other things like you mentioned. as far as traveling the world or other places, its been another dream of mine for quiet some time now but due to financial purposes i will wait off on it for now. i hear Paris is great during the spring but what do i know? i just finished reading "Making Movies" by acclaimed director Sidney Lumet which was pretty good in a sense but also very detailed as well.

Your wisdom is greatly appreciated sir. Thanks again!
