 The new Bond trailer is out. We've seen the beautiful teaser, but here we have a little more dialogue, a little more story and a lot more of the luscious visuals, check it out below. There's some really, really great stuff here. That little cufflink-adjustment is an instant classic Bond moment, 007's gadget dispenser Q is back for the first time in the form of Ben Whishaw (who is a pretty fine actor, so here's hoping they expand Q's role just a smidgeon), and the photography is stunning. Movie-Moron is a little disappointed that the film appears to revolve around a very similar macguffin to that of the first Mission:Impossible film, but as of yet we're unsure exactly how much that will factor into the story. To top it all off though, we get our first impression of the villain: Blonde Bardem. Thoughts? Source: Jalopnik |

Referring to M as 'mummy', Bardem doing a role we've already seen, Q as an annoying twerp, expanded role for Granny Dench, more disruption to commuters on the London Underground.

Not a huge Bond fan, mostly cause I didn't grow up watching them. First one I saw was Goldeneye and I was shocked how cartoony it was. It grew on me though, but the Brosnon sequels were lame. Still haven't seen many of the "classics."

That one where Bond goes into space
This trailer looks PHENOMENAL though. Great balance of fun gadgets, comedy, and the "real peril" vibe from this latest incarnation.

Okay. We're coming from a similar place Bond-wise. I wasn't introduced to them at an early age, their reputation preceded them, and whatever Bond movie I first saw (I can't remember what it was, but I imagine it was GoldenEye) left me underwhelmed.
I like Connery, have no time for Moore and haven't seen Lazenby or Dalton. My favorite Brosnan Bond is The World Is Not Enough, and I'm shocked you could prefer GoldenEye to Dr No. Shocked and appalled.
Skyfall does look like it could potentially be the finest Bond film to date; it's so visually superior to Casino Royale it's not even funny. I'm midway through re-watching CR right now, and I am not fond of the way it was shot. It's overlit, there are lots of static shots...and the story doesn't really pick up until Vesper arrives, it's quite plodding really, despite some great moments. Good, but not as good as I remember it.
I was thinking we could pick a few Bond films to watch on the road to Skyfall and argue about them in public do a series of joint reviews if you were up for it.

I need to re-watch Dr. No. I know it's considered the best, but I just remember it being dull as hell. It's been YEARS though. We should do the first couple Connery, the first couple Moore, then Latzenby and Dalton ...

GoldenEye is easily the most overrated Bond movie. It's terrible!
Good game though.
Best Bond movies of the last 20 years:
3. The World Is Not Enough
2. Casino Royale
1. The Living Daylights
Although they all have their issues.

World of difference between those two movies.
A View To A Kill the worst ever made? It's better than Die Another Day for a start. Christopher Walken as the villain, one of the best songs, perhaps the best score, the awesome sequence on the Eiffel Tower. Ok Roger Moore was a bit old by that point, and a lot of the action sucked, but still...

I've probably seen all of them. The Roger Moore ones are a mixed up blur from TV repeats in my childhood.
From Russia With Love is the best early one. You should watch The Living Daylights. Skip Licence To Kill.

I'm really liking this trailer, lots of great stuff in there, especially the nonchalant cuff tweak on the train, arrogant moody Bond and back to his philandering ways, obviously he's over Vesper then.

It's going to be weird to move past Vesper entirely now, I think. It'll be interesting to see if the revamped Bond works as well as a character without that emotional core. It seems almost like he might revert to type, and I don't know how good that is. But Mendes has stated in interviews that he remains interested in psychological aspects of the character, so who knows where that might lead. And Mendes can do psychological.
