This is the elusive moment the satellite plunges into the sea at the end of Cloverfield.

It's so small you can only see it on the big screen. And even then you have to know where to look. But you do certainly see it come down. I have witnessed it with my own eyes, and many others have too.

It's before the end credits. Did they turf you out early? Were you being disruptive again?

I actually didn't notice that thing fall at all when I was in the theater.  Which is kind of a shame, because all my friends kinda refer to me as "the movie guy" so when I miss something that they all notice it tends to bring my credentials into question.  Eh, screw 'em.

No, they simply didn't show it. Makes me kind of angry too.

Actually I just watched the film and rewatched that part several times and it's not a satellite it is the monster "clover" or what ever it's called.  You can actually hear the slight scream of the monster when it crashes.  The above image doesn't point to where it crashed but it is slightly to the left.  If you see it again soon listen for the camera to beep and then you will see it, it's very small and I had to really pay attention to see it and have the sound turned up to hear the scream.

Hi MacBeth, welcome to the forum. I agree the idea of it being the monster itself makes a lot more sense but J.J. Abrams has personally denied it. If you haven't seen the article here, have a look.

Ok, just got ahold of the DVD. The scene is on there and something does indeed fall into the water.

Dude,
the guy is right
an object does fall from the sky
but his markings are incorrect
the guy who said it was clearly a boat is correct.
I watched the ending no more then 5 minutes ago and it was there the whole time
so the thing he pointed at WAS a boat
But a small object, people say a "Satellite" appears to fall NEXT to the boat.
It is small and in the distance and creates a small splash.
Its around where the wings of the arrows come out. not the point, the wings of the arrow.
In fact I think he even caught part of the small splash.
if you at the word "Baiklah" in the picture and look at the "L" and then look staright up there is a ripple in the distance
Its small, so look closely but its there.
Its next to the black pole that sticks out in case you need some more reference.
But it IS there. and to note. Watching closely may help

Your right, however the splash you reference is not the sattelite...it is a jetski travelling by.
The "screaming" you hear from the "monster" is a slight grinding of the gears on the ferris wheel.
The actual sattelite you CAN see in the image on the left above the Y in 'Okey!'

Just wanted to clear those things up.
