Well we all knew that the dastardly producing brothers of the Weinstein variety were pushing forward with their Hellraiser remake and now they've secured inking duties with Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton.

Looking remarkably like a State-side version of our own Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais, this writing buddy-up is responsible for the $125m Saw IV and the to-be-released Saw V but don't let that scare you off as they cut their teeth with the barrel of fun that was the 2005 DTD monster bash, Feast which is hopefully more of the direction they're going to go with for Hellraiser REDUX.

Clive Barker himself seemed to like the original writer director team put on to the project...heads butted within the studio and they were taken off of writing ad then quit on directing...I liked Feast and all, but I have  bad feeling this Hellraiser (if it ever comes out) will stink. Barker himself needs to do more directing.

Yeah, unfortunately there aren't too many horror remakes worth their salt and with the Weinsteins onboard my gut tells me this is going to tank big style but then my gut also tells me its going to be sunny and it then purs down so its not the most reliable of gauges.

They produced Grindhouse and that was certainly made for the fans. This has a half chance.

I dont know whats worse here; Remaking a film that doesn't need remaking, or the fact Clive Barker is involved. I mean Clive should know better, I guess he feels if they are going to remake it he might as well be invovled. Maybe that will save it, I dunno. I'm just fed up of remakes AKA reinterpretations of old material.

I don't want to see a remake. I want to see a fresh new movie. THe problem with the sequels was that they were all talk and very very very very little of pin head and hell. So, if they do a remake, we need more pinhead, more cenobites, more chains with fishhooks, more gorey ways for people to die.

I finally saw Hellraiser, and first two sequels, in November of last year. And, I have to say, the visionary FX were awesome, and Pinhead was inspired, but damn. The movies sucked. And I mean SUCKED on a story level and acting level. I still enjoyed them, but I couldn't help thinking, "wow, I'd love to take this premise and design and construct a stronger story around it."

I was hoping this would be the case  ... but two filmmakers that have only made lame sequels and a Project Greenlight flick? Doesn't bode well.
