Finally got round to watching Hatchet and what an awful movie, so contrived and the ending is possibly the greatest example of how NOT to edit that I've ver had the misfortune of seeing.

Picked up Zombie Strippers, the one with Jenna Jameson, looks awful but could be fun.

The Stepfather

I loved this flick! One of a kind horror flick. Terry O'Quinn does amazing job on his character! This is a must see!

I saw the original The Stepfather a couple of years back and it's a very decent movie. Terry O'Quinn is great, the script is solid.

I heard so much hype over this on AICN that I picked it up ... and turned it off in the first act. I made it through the shitty, unfunny opening in the bayou, but just couldn't take the bad acting and the fact that it's supposed to take place in New Orleans over Mardi Gras and there's like three college students walking around a deserted city.  Also, the dialog is unfunny and uninteresting. I can't believe it got made.

I have NO IDEA that actor was in the original Stepfather. I'm goin to check it out, he's great!

I have bought...

The Changeling

I havent seen this movie, but read in an interview with Ti West (the writer, director AND EDITOR of The House of the Devil) that he thought it was one of the most underrated 80s hoor flicks. After seeing his film, I take his opinion on 80s horror rather highly.

Basket Case

I havent seen this movie and only have heard a little bit about it. But it looks crazy!

Bloodsucking Freaks

I hear nothing but absurd things about this movie, cant wait to see whats all the fuss about!

Pieces

If you dig 80s slashers, then you'll dig this piece of 80s cinema!

The Changeling is a great ghost movie if you enjoy the genre. Made me jump and creeped me out, which is what it's all about.

Basket Case is really low budget.

I've never seen Pieces, but here's the trailer -

Horror was so much more 'dirty' back then.

t.Ross: Yepm, that's who I meant. He plays John Locke on LOST and he's GREAT.

I agree, 70s and early 80s horror was dirty feeling. Not in a sexual way, in a gritty, dust-covered way. It's interesting, you can really see it "clean up" through the 90s and into the 2000s ... I'm just thinking about Dark Water and crap like that ... it's all sleek and squeaky clean feeling. Sterile. I'm not sure I like it was much. Except for something like American Psycho, where it's a true artistic choice.

The Orphanage - bought this for my sister. Flawed? Yes. But beautiful cinematography, great acting, and that "red light green light" scene is fucking terrifying.

So how is Basket Case?

I have bought

Castle Freak

This is a brilliant movie by director Stuart Gordon, and story teller H.P. Lovercraft. When these 2 pair up they can be known for creating a masterpiece, like they did before with Re-Animator. A masterpiece is what the did again with Castle Freak. We are blessed with another terrific performace by Jeffery Combs. Combs and Gordon worked together on Re-Animator. i love Combs intense performances, he really makes believe in the character he is portraying. This was also an Full Moon production. I love Full moon movies they were real big during the early 90s, this was made during there prime. This is a must see for any 90s horror fan, truly amazing!

Deadpit

This was such a fun 80s flick to watch. the bad acting and over the top performaces was such a show. the way this movie was shot was so cool, the werid camera angles really awesome. This is a perfect 80s cheese flick. not boring and absolute fun!

Bought Colin the British zombie film made for (allegedly) £45. Had a unique twist in that it was from the zombie's point of view, but all that actually did was have us follow around an almost brain dead human for 90 minutes.
I really really wanted to enjoy this film but it was awful, yes there were some really good FX in there but that really is the only redeeming feature of the movie. It has no story, there continuity is all over the place with geography, timeline and zombie attributes.

Has anyone else seen this? (if you haven't please don't waste your time)

Haven't seen it but it sounds rubbish. I've read some zombie short fiction and as I've been submitting my own short stories to genre magazines, almost all of them request that you don't send stories told from a zombie's point of view. So, it's a common mistake it seems. There's just no way, unlessyou're a genius, that you can tell a compelling narrative from the POV of a braindead monster.

I couldn't agree more mate, they tried to make it that the zombie had some intelligence left but it was so sporadic that it was only intelligent when it suited the plot, horribly made as well, stiil, i bet the director is now shooting a feature for actual money, sigh.
