Britain has a funny habit of making horror films set in a World War 2 trench/bunker (The Bunker, Deathwatch etc). Odd that the trailer doesn't even mention it stars Ray Stevenson of HBO's Rome / the new Punisher.

It's a nice site in that there's no dicking about - here are the facts and here are the atmospherics, job done. Poster's good too.

Yeah i've been keeping my eye on this one, it was made by a couple that remortgaged their house to raise the dough. I've seen figures touted round like £250k as a budget and by the looks of it they've done a prety decent job.

The story's one ,like you said before Sheridan, that's been done to death so i hope they have something different up their sleeves. Not saying its a barometer of how good the movie is but Screen Gems has already picked this up for £1.5m so at least it should get UK distribution with probs a DVD release in the US.

Remortgaged their house? Ouch. Never put your own money into a movie.

Yeah apparantly they've been working in the 'biz for some years now and wanted to make their first feature but they didn't have any credits under their belts to wrangle anyone into dishing out some dosh so they remortgaged. I think they did also secure some cash from an investor as well and seeing as Sony have nabbed it it's paid off for them.

It's a weird one as ive heard that bantered round a lot the old 'never put your own money into a movie' but then if you beleive in your project enough and no one else will finance it then how else would you get the flick made? Mmm maybe an idea for a thread??

If you believe in a project and nobody else does, it usually means everyone else is right.

I am going to disagree.  There have been plenty of films made that people put their own money into that were pretty damn good.  Really the problem is that they are looking at how to market the movie not the movie itself.  Marketing puts butts in seats on opening weekend which is what it's all about right?

What this leads to is every so often getting a really good movie that has high box office grosses.  It has nothing to do to whether or not project is going to be good it's about whther it can be turned into a 30 second TV ad that can be sold to the mindless masses.  Independent film makers still make the best movies in my opinion.
