Prince Caspian usurped the box office from Iron Man this weekend. Even though the film overtook the iron giant, the fantasy epic unfortunately earned roughly 15m less than what was projected. Thankfully, the film has been earning favorable reviews so far; a nice relief from last weekend's crash. When asked how many fantasy animals were harmed during filming, the producers delivered a cool and collected shrug.
No other films were given wide releases this weekend, likely because the studios don't wish to compete directly with one another over opening summer crowds. Unfortunately they don't realize how boring and undramatic weekends with no potential battles of the stars can be (especially to write about). Hell, at least we can still look back at Speed Racer's colossal crash and be thankful for the water cooler conversations that gave us.
