Indy Won't Bomb, But Will There Be a Golden Box Office?

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" has finally hit theaters and chances are you will go see it. Critics are praising the film left and right and bets are being made to just how big a blockbuster it will be. But that's just it, will it be as big as "Spider-Man 3" and other sequels alike? That depends if moviegoers will give up some gas money and go see it again. So if you want to know what you’re in store for, or if it’s worth $8 bucks, read on.

After finding the Ark and the Holy Grail, I suppose there’s nothing left for Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) to explore except the final frontier. That’s right, the pot of gold at the end of this adventure answers the age-old question, are we alone in the universe?

Considering Director Steven Spielberg and Executive Producer George Lucas have a knack for space tales ("Close Encounters of the Third Kind," "Star Wars" Trilogy) audiences will probably buy into the sci-fi angle being introduced here. And there will be a few nuggets for die hard fans to enjoy. Still, some moviegoers might be scratching their heads about this far-reaching story line, but at least they won’t be bored.

While Jones takes on the role of skeptic in this alien tale (usually reserved for "The X-File’s" Scully, who also is returning to the big screen this summer) he’s still an adventurer at heart. So count on plenty of fight scenes, age is nothing but a number here, and of course special effects. The question remains, will Indy be a blockbuster like it predecessors? Survey says, yes. In fact there are even talks to have co-star Shia LaBeouf carry on the series.
