As if anyone was expecting any different,
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull cleaned up at the box office this weekend. While it isn't performing as high as many predicted, the film is still far from a flop and will continue to rake in the cash. Come on, it's Indiana Jones, a movie that nearly every moviegoer will see. Another driving factor behind it's continued success will no doubt be word of mouth. The press has given the film good to excellent reviews thus far, and the film had a smashing opening in Cannes. However, the film's reception in less, shall we say, official venues has been mixed at best.
Dr. Jones also had the luck of scaring off any other wide releases to open alongside him this weekend, letting those still left battle for his table scraps.
Iron Man continues to earn well and has just topped the quarter billion dollar mark. However,
Prince Caspian continues its mediocre reception by seeing a large dropoff from last week's near-flop opening.
Speed Racer's wreckage is all but towed off the scene.
Oh yeah, and Postal got pulled.
