This just in from Cannes: Looks like Tarantino has found his next project.

In an interview with a television station at Cannes, Quentin Tarantino had this to say about his next feature film:

Host: What are the next films that you are going to be making? We're hearing KILL BILL 3, KILL BILL 4, which one is it?

Tarantino: The next movie I'm doing is my World War II movie. I just finished up the first draft and if ALL GOES WELL, I will be here, in Cannes, in 2009 with INGLORIOUS BASTARDS

Well, you heard it folks---I'm super thrilled about this one. I've been hearing about Inglorious Bastards for years now---seems like one of those scripts that was never going to get made. Here's to hoping I was wrong.

Thanks to JoBlo for the scoop.

Glad it's one of his old scripts. His most recent screenplay was shit.

FINALLY! I  didn't like Jackie Brown, Pulp Fiction, or Death Proof, but Kill Bill and Reservoir Dogs are two of my favorite flicks ... I've been hearing about Inglorious Bastards for like three years I think, I REALLY hope it kicks ass.

It seems so un-Tarantino.  Can't wait to hear more about it.

How would it be un-tarantino? If he wrote it I am sure it is very Tarantino...some how he will find plenty of ways to get close up shots of barefoot women for his foot fetish and then cut that with long pointless dialog about music and or he said she said bullshit involving characters and happenings not in the movie.

I like Res. Dogs and Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction was pretty good too. Death Proof was crap.

I just think that WWII and Tarantino aren't titles you'd hear in the same sentence very often.  Of course, that's about to change soon.

IMDB - Set in World War 2, Tarantino's story revolves around group of soldiers on their way to be executed, only they get the chance for a reprieve. He describes them as "Not your normal hero types that are thrown into a big deal in World War II." This is the only information he will release at present.

Hopefully that does not translate to a bunch of guys in world war 2 outfits sitting around a table talking about stupid crap with bad accents and then something blows up in the very end. Casting should probably stay away from Michael Madsen too, he's getting kind of crusty

...hmmm what former big actor could T help revive their career?  He's already done Travolta and tried with Russell.

Paul Reubens rocks, but I think he plans to bring himself back with Pee-Wee...supposedly his Playhouse movie could happen by 2009, to hear him tell it on talk shows he has two Pee-wee based movies coming out...the first in the tradition of the others, and then a darker one about the evils of Hollywood.

I would buy a movie ticket to see him as a WW2 soldier though without even having to see the trailer..heh heh

I'd definitely be up for seeing what Tarantino can do with Johnny 5. Especially as part of an interweaving plot that involves the robots from Batteries Not Included, and, um, the Ghoulies.

I think this film will be amazing!!!  I love Tarantino's films, he is a brilliant man!
Here is the latest update of the plot on imdb.com.....

During World War II a group of Jewish-American soldiers known as "The Basterds" are chosen specifically to spread fear throughout the Third Reich by scalping and brutally killing Nazis. The Basterds soon cross paths with a French-Jewish teenage girl who runs a movie theater in Paris which is targeted by the soldiers
