Yes you read that right. He really could've picked any other genre, i mean period drama is going begging and anyway aren't you supposed to master one genre before you move onto the next one?

The news that Adam Sandler is to set up a horror genre label from his Happy Madison company imaginatively titled 'Scary Madison' ~groan~ is one that really should fill us gore hounds with dread.
We have enough under achieving horror production companies out there, yes i am talking to you Dark Castle and Ghost House Pictures, what on earth makes Sandler think that he can do any better? He has zero experience in our beloved genre and even if he is just down as producer on their first stab Shortcut i'm sure he will have his fair share of say on how it all comes together.

Oh and to fill your dark hearts with even more fear here's the rather limited synopsis for Shortcut:
The film centres on two brothers who move to a new town and stuble upon a disused shortcut and then to their horror, discover why.

Yeah sounds really friggin scary. Colour me completely disillusioned.

I,ve always thought Adam Sandler should move into early retirement, It'd be his best role by far.

He could just add scary music to some of his films, Mr. Deeds, Happy Gilmore, truly psychotic films with happy music over the top to pretend they aren't. Good for a quick buck I guess.

A bit harsh guys!

Firstly, Sandler may not have any involement just yet in these movies, he could simply be financing some independent stuff - we don't know if he's going the Sam Raimi PG-13 route (which would be uber-lame). Secondly, who knows if he does have taste in horror films to give us what we want? And finally, if he does happen to appear in any of these films (unlikely), The Sandman is more than capable of turning in a fine dramatic performance as shown in Punch Drunk Love and Reign Over Me. He's excellent in both films.

Give the guy a chance! And no, the fact I find his films funny has not skewed what I just wrote!  Grin

... Promise.

Oh comon, Adam Sandler does for acting what Uwe Boll does for directing. I agree with with the other guy, Just add some scary ass music to Mr Deeds.

I do hear ya Mahmoud but for me he hasn't earnt a crack at horror, he's made two passable flicks from a tally of 18, not exactly a great ratio, plus i believe his brother is the scribe on it as well, so there is nothing about this pet project of Sandlers that suggests to me that it will be anything other than dire.

I do hope i'm wrong as we really need a good production house that can made some good indie horror movies.
