The first teaser poster for the upcoming Terminator sequel popped up at the New York Licensing Expo, and MTV Movies Blog has posted the first look. It's a nice image, though pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a poster for a Terminator film. The "Becoming Self-Aware Memorial Day 2009" tagline is a nice touch. The poster will start showing up in movie theaters July 18th, which coincidentally enough is when the first teaser trailer is due to premiere in front of The Dark Knight. Because it's nice to *finally* have a reason to be excited about that film opening, right?

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins opens in theaters May 22nd 2009.

I'm still stunned that Christian Bale is attached to this project, and usually when Bale signs on to something you know it will be half good at least. I dunno about this, Its one of those ones which seems to give a good name to piracy if you ask me.

I just can't believe how quickly it seems to have come out of nowhere. They're already shooting the damn thing, and it's less that a year from release.

I know, right? It seems that thats how things work with all the big "event" movies now. The studio makes an announcement, then rushes into overdrive working to keep the film's presence on the internets alive. Probably why, by the time most of these movies actually open, we're already sick of hearing about them.

Viral internet marketing is quite ironic in fact because it targets an audiance it already has in its pocket. The chances are if your wired into the viral apsect of the  marketing then the chances are your going to see the movie eitherway. Its not like Viral really reaches out to an untapped demograph all that much.

They waste millions of dollars like this nowadays, It explains why the marketing costs as much if not more than the actual production itself does.
