What were the top ten movies released in the year 1980? As in your favorite top ten, not the most profitable.

My top three would be:
1. Empire Strikes Back
2. Raging Bull
3. The Shining

My full top ten list and little about how and why I picked each one, plus a list of what were the top ten grossing films of that year can be found at http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/836883/the_top_ten_movies_of_1980.html?cat=40

If you want some sources to browse many of the movies released in that year to see if you agree with my list or to comprise your own, comparing and using both of these links covers a lot of ground:

Aside from the ones you've mentioned, I'd have to go with Airplane! and Ordinary People.  Though, The Blue Lagoon and Friday the 13th do deserve an honorable mention as well.

Somewhere in Time is directly responsible for my deep seeded lust for one Jane Seymour.

Xanadu is my guiltiest pleasure.

Private Benjamin was sure gold. Bad pun intended.

Seems like old Times was one of my favorites growing up. They used to play it all the time on Saturday afternoons. Half the time they ran it back to back with Foul Play.

Caddyshack is a classic.

There are some easy picks for that year but these are the ones I watched as a child of the 80 that started me down the path to becoming The Movie Whore.

Xanadu and Private Benjamin, oh my. I didn't think they'd come up.

I assume there's going to be a separate category for Charles Bronson and Schwarzeneggar movies, right?  Otherwise they'd just dominate everything else.
