Marvels list of movies to come seems to keep growing larger and larger. We have The Avengers to look forward to and movies for the members such as Captain America, but will we have Thor? Thor set to be released June 4, 2010 was originally to be directed by Matthew Vaughn (Stardust) and have a script be written by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend). Vaughns holding deal apparently expired in December so from what i've heard its safe to assume hes off the film. They have a script in the works but without a director and the estimated cost of production being 150-300 million dollars will Marvel move ahead or abandon Thor's own film? A better question.... does anyone really give a shit? Before hearing about The Avengers after seeing Iron Man I knew nothing about this hammer wielding, viking-like helmeted god, but the more I find out the less I really care about it. Thor and his hammer Mjolnir may be legends in their own comic books but I just cant see this as being nearly as great success as Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk or hell even X-Men 3, Thor just doesn't seem like marvel movie material to me especially considering its said to be "lord of the rings-ish". Then again who knows maybe they'll make it and it will be great, kids will ask for Mjolnir to hit each other while screaming all types of weird mythological things.... I doubt it.

I have a feeling that a lot of these Marvel properties are gonna tank, simply because they lack appeal outside of those who are already fans of the comic books.  Thor?  Bleh.  Captain America?  Guh.  And I don't think spinoffs or crossovers are going to be the smash hits Marvel is relying on them to be.

Yeah, I anticipate the same thing. Honestly, I don't care about any of the other Avengers ... and although the idea of bringing all the separate heroes together in one film really seems awesome, I can't imagine how hard that would be to pull off, it gives me the Spider-Man 3 jitters.
