Rumours are circulating among the pits of online zombie fan blogs that George A. Romero has drafted the script for the sequel of Diary of the Dead. Although the first rumour of the sequel were originally started by hopeful fans of Romeo, the architecture of modern zombie horror, commented on IGN “I'm not sure where that came from" and revealed that he didn't even have an idea for the sequel yet, but if the right idea and money can "meet somewhere in the middle" that a sequel would be possible.
In the interview he also went on the explain why he used digital cameras in the first person throughout the feature; “After what happened with Land of the Dead I wanted to get away from Hollywood and do something small and independent," he explained. "The idea came about from the media explosion that's happening at the moment…”
Romeo even menitioned that in the first film the voices of Stephen King, Guillermo del Toro, Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, Quentin Tarantino, Tom Savini and Wes Craven can all be heard on the soundtrack … Freaky!
