Like clockwork Saw has been released around Halloween for 4 years. So of course theres no exception this year, no not while there is money to be made. So this year if you haven't guessed or found out already Saw 5 will come to a theater near you. The movie stars people i've never heard of like Julie Benz, Meagan Good and that guy from Saw 4 Scott Patterson. The screen play was written by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, the same writers of the last movie. I must admit the poster released does get me very much interested in the movie, but if you make the mistakes I do of looking up too much shit about movies you'll find out who the man behind the mask is. (stay off IMDb! i dont know if its true but still, it got the spoilers!) The makers of the movie might want you to know however because im finding more things naming the killer. That sucks! What the hell is the point of going?!
Saw 4 left me fairly bored and since I might know who the killer is and they may want me to know unwillingly there wont be that element of surprise I like and saw movies are known for, I will however go in October although i'd say the enthusiasm died last year. Then again they could fuck with my head completely and make some mind altering twists that I couldnt see from a mile away..... well we'll see.... This shit is already making me think too much.

I loved the first Saw, really cleverly executed, and Saw 2 was surprisingly watchable too. But I heard such bad things about 3, and that added to the amount of heavy metal music in the trailers brought me to call it a day.

Damn, we up to 5 already?! It's like 80s horror all over again.

Julie Benz was in Buffy and is currently in Dexter (the TV Show AND the character - wahey) so we know her. Megan Goode rings a bell.. I guess Saw is the new horror anthology to rival Nightmare, Halloween and Friday 13th.

At least 80s slashers were funny, trashy, and the filmmakers knew they were trashy.  Only Saw movie I can watch is the first one, but I still would prefer not to.

Exactly... I think what separates Saw from the aforementioned 80s slashers is that it has no attachment to fantasy or the paranormal about it which makes me think it must be really hard for those guys to crank out film after film and still make it interesting. With the Nightmare/13th/Halloween's of this world, there's necessarily have to be a plausible connection between sequels as it's just about getting to what we paid to see - half-naked teens getting disposed of in numerous methods. I am by no means a fan of the Saw series, but I appreciate what they're trying to do all the same.
