Now I know why Paul W.S. Anderson is such an awful director, his hero is Roger Corman, a director so mediocre he doesn't even rank as "so bad he's good."

His idea of remaking the cult classic Death Race 2000 is to take out the element that made it unique: a race where drivers score points by killing spectators.

This is a basic, generic, boring action film. They claim that they shied away from CGI, but in the boring clip they showed us a bad CGI man falls out of a car and slams into a bad CGI pole.

I wish Tarantino directed this film. The last twenty minutes of Death Proof are going to be better than this entire film.

Still, Jason Strathern is bad-ass.

*special note*  the music director for the church I attending in high school scored the original Death Race 2000.

When I heard they were remaking 2000, I was stoked.  But then I heard Anderson was at the helm and they removed the most memorable part of the original.  Now, since Anderson was in the driver's seat, I shouldn't be surprised.  But if there's anything that can make his movies better, it's the wanton slaughter of spectators.

They probably won't even have the massage sessions...

This has to be clearest example of gutless filmmaking.

I just love the perception that Jason Strathern's character is a supreme badass because, as one inmate whispered to another, "He used to drive for Nascar".

That and the fact that they give you the entire plot, including twists in the trailer.  Genius.
