It looks like Quentin Tarantino may finally be making Inglorious Bastards. The LONG awaited movie is scheduled to begin filming this October for the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.
When I first found out about this film I believe the rumored actors were Tim Roth and Michael Madsen. The plot was something along the lines of a group of soldiers who are to be executed instead getting sent on a suicide mission so they wont die as shamefully or they escape execution to help the Allies, at one point I seem to remember hearing both... But now thats all changed the rumored actors are Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio two people I would have never expected to see in a Tarantino film.
The script has been finished and released there are quite a few good reviews available online. For a while the script was also online however I haven't been able to find a download of it. From what information is available it will be about a group of American soldiers called the Bastards led by Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Pitt?) who go behind enemy lines creating terror amongst the Nazis with their guerrilla type warfare and scalping tenancies. It will also be about a teenage French Jewish girl named Shosanna whose family is murdered. She manages to escape and flees to Paris where she runs a movie theater during the Nazi occupation. A propaganda film held at her theater with Hitler and his command appearing eventually will unite Shosannas life and the Americans brutality in hopes to end the war.
Im a big fan of Quentin Tarantino as a director and from what i've heard it sounds like its going to be great although I must admit I loved the whole suicide mission plot when I first heard about it, either be executed or march to your deaths with some honor, it had potential.
Lets just hope this movie actually gets started. The casting of Brad Pitt may possibly cause a problem due to the birth of some new kids..... If thats going to be the case then fuck that! I hope they'll drop him instead of pushing the film back ever farther after all it did once had a 2004 release date lets not make it 2014....
