Continuing with their 'We intend to make comic book character into a movie because we don't have anymore ideas' trend, it certainly would not come as a shock if it was confirmed that a 'Venom' spin-off was in the the works.

Reports from UK magazine, Empire, are claiming that Sony pictures is planning to produce a spin-off movie of one of Spider-Man's arch enemies, Venom, portrayed by Topher Grace in Spider-Man 3.  Whether Grace will apprise the role, if such a role is to come about, is unknown.  Butr watch this space!

One only wonders which comic book character will get the Hollywood treatment next...

The only thing that scares me is that yes you could indeed screw it up more than screwed up the Venom story in SM3. If youare going to do Venom you have push it as far as you can go and that means an R rating. Granted that will never happen so my expectations are low.

If they ditch Topher "I need the cool venom head to come off so I can get more facetime" Grace, then Venom could be pretty cool.

Definitely one of the more interesting villains.

There is no way in hell Topher Grace will keep the role.

In my opinion Venom's a pretty weak character anyway (he's literally the exact opposite of Spiderman, yet he's used as a massive deus ex machina, changing sides and allegiances solely to fit the story - the character's effectively a blank slate), but Topher Grace ruined him even further in the movie. Venom and Eddie Brock are supposed to be built like fucking tanks, which Topher Grace emphatically is not.

Sort of off the subject but sort of on, I think a villain I would can't wait to see on the big screen is Doomsday... A powerful, destroy everything (including superman)  character with some real balls...

Just a note, I think if people want to really do comic books justice, as before mentioned, they need to venture into the rated R world...  The Dark Knight got pretty close, and they are definitely learning to start pushing films to the edge.. I can hardly wait for the day when it happens..

Carnage is a serial killer who leave messages in blood. I hope they respect that.

Yeah Venom and Carnage have always been a couple of my favorite Marvel Characters, I have been waiting to see Carnage on the Big Screen since Spiderman 1 first hit the scene.  But Carnage was always really evil and ruthless, they need some creepy and vivid images to really show Carnage's true character.  I feel like in Spiderman 3 they rushed into Venom's role too quick, and that it didnt do any justice in reveling Venom's role in the Spiderman saga, he needed a bigger introduction than the one that was portrayed in Spiderman 3.  I believe that true Venom fans didnt get what we wanted out of Venom on the big screen, WE WANT MORE! WE WANT DARK AND EVIL! WE WANT CARNAGE, WE WANT R RATINGS AND WE WANT BLOOD!  Well at least I do!
